Patrick Modiano, born in 1945, is one of the most talented writers of his generation. An explorer of the past, he knows how to resurrect with extreme precision the atmosphere and details of bygone places and eras, such as occupied Paris, in his first novel, La Place de l'étoile , published in 1968. With Catherine Certitude , he takes us into the tender world of a little girl with a strange name, whose childhood takes place in the Gare du Nord district of Paris during the 1960s.
He is the fifteenth French writer to receive the prestigious Nobel Prize for Literature, on October 9, 2014.
