JMG Le Clézio by Étienne Hubert., on the occasion of the signing of La Fièvre in 1965. Silver print on baryta paper.

JMG Le Clézio was born in Nice on April 13, 1940. He comes from a family from Brittany who emigrated to Mauritius in the 17th century. He continued his studies at the University Literary College of Nice and is a Doctor of Letters.
Despite his many travels, JMG Le Clézio has never stopped writing since the age of seven or eight: poems, stories, tales, short stories, none of which had been published before "Le Procès-verbal", his first novel published in September 1963 and which won the Prix Renaudot. Influenced by his mixed family origins, his travels and his marked taste for Amerindian cultures, his work includes around fifty works. In 1980, he received the Grand Prix Paul-Morand awarded by the Académie française for his novel "Désert". In 2008, the Swedish Academy awarded JMG Le Clézio the Nobel Prize for Literature, celebrating "the writer of rupture, poetic adventure and sensual ecstasy, the explorer of a humanity beyond and below the reigning civilization".
