Give the animals a voice!
- A Gallimard Jeunesse bestiary.
- Group exhibition-sale from March 20 to May 25, 2019.
- Original illustrations and signed proofs
The Galerie Gallimard is pleased to exhibit twenty-three illustrators from Editions Gallimard Jeunesse around the theme of the Bestiary.
Children's literature is a wonderful reservoir of images, and illustration is an essential and demanding art. The theme of the bestiary makes it possible to address all ages and reveal a range of styles ranging from the dreamlike to the humorous, from the touching to the upsetting. It is often through animals that our artists express the imagination and emotion of the texts.
A brilliant panorama of contemporary graphic design, the exhibition presents established artists and new talents:
Chloé Alméras • Fred Benaglia • Benjamin Chaud • Cruschiform • Owen Davey • Christine Destours • Aurélia Fronty • Caroline Gamon • Bernadette Gervais • Georg Hallensleben • Véronique Joffre • Antoon Krings • Thierry Laval • Laurent Moreau • Nathalie Novi • Vincent Pianina • François Place • Roberto Prual-Reavis • François Roca • Antoine Ronzon • Susumu Shingu • Olivier Tallec • Shaun Tan
Techniques: Indian ink, watercolors, graphic palette, acrylic on wood, etc. Around forty original illustrations and signed proofs are offered for sale.
Also to be discovered in the windows: two original boards by Benjamin Rabier exhibited for the first time, original drawings by Rojan, an original drawing by André François for Lettre des îles Baladar by Jacques Prévert, as well as children's albums from the archives of Éditions de la Nouvelle Revue française, such as the first book illustrated by Nathalie Parain, Contes du chat perché, or Rafi la girafe .
